We were approached to provide support for first level workshop supervision for an Aberdeen based Rotating Equipment supplier.
Our client had undergone a number of changes in their business in recent years, which had led to a number of newly promoted supervisors. For many it was their first time in a supervisory position, and they were working through a culture of change and modernisation. It was a difficult situation to be in, especially as many participants were dealing with the progression from team member to supervisor.
We provided a comprehensive programme of half day modules covering a variety of practical supervisory skills, including:
- Facilitating meetings & discussions
- Presenting information both formally and in discussion
- Delivering projects and tasks
- Communicating within your team, including conflict management
- Managing Performance and development within your team
- Authentic leadership
Between modules participants had small assignments to help them contextualise the learning. We would open each module with discussion and feedback on the assignments, to help the group embed their learning within their day to day working lives.
The programme proved so successful that we were invited to deliver it again to the supervisor population in their USA branch. We were able to deliver a consistent programme with locally relevant details.
Much to our delight we were recently invited back to scope a further programme, and during our discussions received the feedback that our Supervisor programmes had made a real difference to both the participants and the business.
